Missing Body Parts of Famous People







Did you know that some parts of those well known, historical, most intelligent, recognized, notorious, amazing etc., in short famous person, were missing? And after reading this trivia, ask yourself, would you still want to be famous?


Here are some of them:

John Wilkes Booth's neck bones

The third, fourth, and fifth vertebrae of Abraham Lincoln’s assassin were removed during an autopsy when he (Booth) was shot in the back of the neck and killed.

Those bits of Booth's spinal column were displayed at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, D.C.

Einstein's brain

When this über-genius scientist passed away in 1955, Dr. Thomas Harvey opted to remove Einstein’s brain (the math man’s family was informed about this). His (Albert Einstein) gray matter was tucked away and the misappropriated brain was allowed to be sliced into 240 sections for researcher’s examination.
Einstein’s body was cremated and scattered in secret location.

"Stonewall" Jackson's arm

Confederate General Thomas Jackson was accidentally shot in the arm by one of his own men in the battle of Chancellorsville.
His arm was amputated and is buried in the nearby Virginia town of Ellwood. Jackson died after eight days due to pneumonia. And the rest of his body lies in peace in Lexington, Virginia.

Saint Francis Xavier's hand

Saint Francis Xavier was a Spanish missionary sent to Asia to spread Christianity. He became popular that when he died in 1552, his relics were whittled.
Today, half his left hand is in Cochin, India, while the other half is in Malacca, Malaysia. One of his arms resides in Rome, and various other cities lay claim to his internal organs. The leftovers? They went to Goa, India.

Napoleon's bits and pieces

Napoleon Bonaparte, an exiled emperor, died on May 5, 1821. after his death, doctors conducted an autopsy with many people as witness.
One of those who witness was a priest named Ange Vignali who took home a some bits of Napoleon’s body as a souvenir. His (Napoleon) heirs sold a collection of his artifacts including the claimed to be emperor’s penis which is currently in the possession of an American urologist.

Oliver Cromwell's head

This English military and political leader’s body was exhumed by the reinstated English monarchy, hanged in chains at Tyburn and the unearthed body was thrown into a pit. His head was displayed in a pole outside Westminster Abbey until 1685.
After 20 years, his head was sold to a man named Josiah Henry Wilkinson. In 1960, his head was finally laid into rest in the grounds of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
