Accused Assassin of Pope John Paul II dies in Bulgaria

In 1981, a Bulgarian man was accused of trying to kill Pope John Paul II, his name was Sergei Antonov.He was later released for lack of evidence.

Sergei Antonov, age 58, had died several days ago, according to doctors.

He was found dead by his neighbors, Wednesday in his home after a few days of not being seen.

Antonov was a former manager in the Rome office of Bulgaria's state airline, Balkan Air.
