ABS-CBN got 4 nominations in 2007 Asian TV Awards

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation bags 2 nominations in 2007 Asian TV Awards for Best News Program category, 1 nomination for Best Game or Quiz Program and 1 nomination for Best Drama Performance by an Actress category.

ABS-CBN’s news programs “Bandila” (Subic Rape Case Promulgation) and “TV Patrol World” (Taguig Hostage Drama) competes for the Best News program category, while “Pilipinas Game KNB?” was nominated for Best Game or Quiz Program and Multi-awarded actress Gina Pareno was again recognized for her performance in “Maala-ala Mo Kaya” in the “Jail” (Rehas) episode for Best Drama Performance by an Actress category.

The Asian Television Awards winners will be announced in an awarding ceremony on Nov. 29, 2007 at the Suntec Convention Hall in Singapore.

Jollibee Launches Tio Pepe to Invade Carinderia Industry

The famous fast-food chain Jollibee which is based in the Philippines ow invades the carinderia industry also known as turo-turo.

After putting up outlets in abroad like Vietnam, Indonesia, China and US, the Philippines’ famous fast-food restaurant is now entering the cheapest section in the food service industry and put up “Tio Pepe’s Karinderia” as its pilot restaurant in Edsa Central in Mandaluyong.

According to John Victor Tence, Jollibee’s Vice President for Corporate and Human Resources, Tio Pepe’s Image is Bulakeño whose mascot is dressed in orange apron.

In ABS-CBN’s interview with Mr. Tence, he said that Tio Pepe’s food is good and cheap. At 39 pesos,he added, one can enjoy meal of pork adobo, rice and soup. They also have laing, and dinuguan in their menu served on plates instead of styrofoam. Service to go is also available.

Jollibee said, if this project becomes successful, they would be able to raise this industry section to a higher level of quality and efficiency. They will initially use a commissary servicing Chowking but will eventually put up a new one for Tio Pepe.

Claudine Barretto Gave Birth to Baby Santino

"Walang Kapalit" Actress Claudine Barretto gave birth to a 6.9-pound baby boy last Thursday.

At exactly 7:44 a.m., Baby boy Rodrigo Santino came out through a normal delivery to at Medical City.

According to Raymart, their Lamaze classes had been helpful.

Sabina is now an "Ate" who is very much excited about the baby.

Santino came to the world a day before Raymart and Claudine's birthday. He's a good birthday gift for the couple and also, Santino's birth made the Barretto sisters get closer again.

White Rabbit Candy with Formalin

Distributors of best-known Chinese-made creamy candy, White Rabbit, together with three other brands named as Milk Candy, Bairong Grape Biscuits and Yong Kang Foods Grape Biscuit was ordered by Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) for pullout.

They were given 15 to 30 days to pull out their products from the market after BFAD tests discovered that the four products contained formaldehyde or formalin which is known for embalming or preserving dead bodies.

China’s products these days were gaining bad credibility for exporting fake and dangerous goods.

Chinese officials admitted that their nation is having a serious problem with food hygiene and safety standards but they blame the foreign media for spreading exaggerated reports regarding the issue.

Willie Revillame Bailed Before Warrant of Arrest Was Served

Controversial Wowowee Host Willie Revillame (a.k.a. Papi or Wowowillie)bailed before his warrant of arrest was served regarding his case filed by his wife Liz Almoro.

In June 2005, Willie was married to former beauty queen Liz Almoro who was already conceiving Juan Emmanuel (Juamee) and in less than two years of being married, rumors spread that the couple’s relationship is getting unwell.

Liz filed charges of violating Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act against Willie.

According to her, Willie shouts and humiliates her while he(Willie) was holding their baby boy, tried to hit her with a chair and throw the remote control, and had “dirty sexual affairs" with different women.

Willie made a counter affidavit, and denied the accusations and said that Liz has explosive moods and hurtful outbursts.

A Php 12,000 worth of bail was provided for Willie’s temporary release before the warrant of arrest was served.

Sam Milby Almost Killed on a Car Accident

Last July 10, Actor/PBB Ex-Housemate Sam Milby had a car accident on his way from Makati.

Sam was asked by Anne Curtis to drive them (Anne and Liz)on a bar in Makati.

About 5 a.m., Sam was driving along C5 in Taguig City and about to take stylist and fashion editor Liz Uy home when an FX taxi who illegally made a U-turn bumped their car.

After the accident happened, the driver tried to escape but Sam chased and manage to stop the taxi with his own car.

According to the actor, he decided not to file any charges against the driver, he just thought that he is still blessed and thinking that the man was an FX driver, he has a family to feed. so he just let the man go.

Sam and Liz called John Lloyd who happens to be the fashion editor's boyfriend, to assure him that everything was all right.

MTRCB on Transformers

The box office hit movie Transformers should have a PG-13 rate from MTRCB before it gets the General Patronage rating in the Philippines.

Movie goers are not aware of what the movie went through when MTRCB board member Edmund Sicam gave his individual report giving the classification of Parental Guidance – 13 on the movie.

According to him, PG-13 was given due to the one-time use of the word “masturbation” in the original copy which is not for a G classification.

However, after the conference was convened, a proposal was made of voluntary deleting or bleeping the said word.

Two of the remaining board members gave a G rate subject to checking and requires a re-screening of the movie.

After Sicam heard about the classification, he then withdrew his individual report with his signature from the committee report.

Nida Blanca's Husband, Rod Strunk Found Dead

Roger “Rod” Strunk, Nida Blanca’s Husband who was indicted of killing his wife (Nida) six years ago, was found dead by a woman at the parking lot of an inn at Tracy, California.

Strunk was charged in the Philippines with parricade along with four principal suspects in the killing of Dorothy Jones also known as the actress Nida Blanca. The Actress was found dead inside her car on November 7, 2001 with 13 stab wounds to the head and chest.

Tracy Police Department reported that the 68 years old Strunk apparently jumped from the 2nd floor balcony of the inn as it found evidence indicating that he committed suicide.
